Position: Patient Care Assistant
Reports to: Clinic Manager
Classification: Full-time, non-exempt (hourly)
Compensation Range: $21-$25 per hour (bilingual candidates will receive a pay differential)
Location: Chicago, Illinois

Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Clinic Manager and licensed medical staff, the role of the Patient Care Assistant will be to provide patient-centered, trauma-informed medical care to patients and be responsible for maintaining the key clinical areas in the building. All employees are expected to uphold and promote Hope Clinic’s mission statement, code of ethics, patient care standards, and policies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews medical history, takes and documents vital signs, and communicates urgent or abnormal results to RN or clinician. Maintain accurate charting and documentation of all care rendered to the patient.
  • Assist physicians, advanced practice clinicians, and/or RNs in clinical areas.
  • Set up and close down clinical areas, including thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing rooms, ensuring that equipment is sterile, and coordinating waste management
  • Ensure compliance with pertinent Hope Clinic policies and protocols, Illinois State regulations, OSHA guidelines, and universal precautions. Ensures strict adherence to all federal HIPAA statutes and possesses an understanding of medical confidentiality.
  • Provide or oversee the provision of aftercare instructions and patient education.
  • Provides physical and emotional support to patients, effectively managing patient anxieties and fears.
  • Assist with the timely and efficient execution of all front desk activities, including but not limited to registering and checking in/out patients, maintaining patient medical records, obtaining any additional consents needed for services, and greeting visitors.
  • Assist with the timely and efficient execution of all patient services activities, including but not limited to answering the phone, completing intakes, and obtaining informed consent.
  • Reviews paperwork, obtains informed consents, and assists with patient education as needed.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to abortion access and reproductive justice.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred (will receive a pay differential)

Working Conditions

  • This position operates in an outpatient office setting. Working spaces will include exam rooms, procedure rooms, and a recovery room.
  • OSHA Blood-borne Pathogen Exposure Determination: Based on the OSHA guidelines for protection against occupational exposure to hepatitis B virus (HBV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), this position includes tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues.


Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear in person, on the telephone, and via web conference. Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens, is necessary. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • This position requires the ability to frequently lift and move patients.
  • This role requires both standing and sitting.

Job Summary

The Human Resources Coordinator plays a major role in influencing a positive and inclusive workplace culture, developing and retaining employees, and aligning human resource processes with organizational objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities
Human Resources

  • Attract, hire, and integrate employees into the organization.
  • Assist COO in managing employee concerns, conflicts, and grievances to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Assist the COO in developing and managing attractive compensation and benefits packages (including financial and non-financial incentives) to reward your employees competitively.
  • Organizational culture and engagement: Maintain a vibrant and collaborative organizational culture that boosts employee satisfaction and engagement.
  • Ensure correct documentation of employee records. This includes but is not limited to; staff tracking, financial records, health benefit enrollment, 401k tracking, new employee onboarding, processing terminations, credentialing etc.
  • Facilitate staff trainings as needed.
  • Update and retain physician and employee medical credentials as needed.
  • Collaborate within abortion networks to provide updated protocols or programming.
  • Focus on culture building: Implement initiatives to create a supportive, inclusive work environment, such as employee recognition programs and open communication channels. Determine how to support and sustain these initiatives long-term.
  • Act as the organization’s champion for employee physical, mental, and emotional health and well being.
  • Use data to drive strategic decision-making and measure the impact of people and culture initiatives.
  • In concert with the COO and CMO, lead change management efforts, particularly when the organization undergoes significant transitions or restructuring.
  • Be responsible for promoting an inclusive workplace culture.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff, departments, and clinicians and support a positive image of Hope inside and outside the organization.

Qualifications

Working Conditions
