Department of Psychosocial Services

The Department of Psychosocial Services is made up of a team of staff members dedicated to helping patients address a variety of concerns, including emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual needs. Team members meet individually with each patient during an abortion visit as well as work with individuals who would benefit from additional support or resources after their visit at Hope Clinic. Services provided are LGBTQIA-affirming, sex positive, trauma-informed, and tailored to the individual needs of each patient. The department is overseen by a licensed clinician with specialized training in reproductive health and a professional certification in sexuality education.

If you are interested in any of these services, please call us at 618-451-5722, text us at 618-248-8048 or email us at info@hopeclinic.com.

Counseling Services:

Pregnancy Options Counseling

Review information about all your pregnancy options including adoption, abortion, and parenting. Discuss concerns about your options and work through some exercises to assist you in making your own decision about your pregnancy. For more pregnancy options resources, please visit our Pregnancy Options Resources webpage.

Post-Abortion Counseling
While most people who have abortions report feelings of relief, there is no right or wrong way to feel about any experience with pregnancy or abortion. In a society that makes people feel guilt and shame for choosing abortion, it can be hard to find a non-judgmental person to talk to about your feelings. Whether you are seeking additional support or want time to process and work through your experience with and feelings associated with abortion/pregnancy, this type of counseling might just be for you. This is a short-term counseling service and is available to people who have had abortions.

Abortion Information-Only Visit
There is a lot of misinformation about abortion everywhere. Anti-abortion “crisis pregnancy centers” outnumber abortion providers. These centers mislead individuals about their options in an attempt to prevent people from accessing abortion care. Abortion Information-Only Visits allow you time to reflect on your decision, receive medically accurate information, and be connected with helpful, supportive, choice-affirming resources. The objective of this service is to provide you with the information needed to make an informed decision about whether or not abortion is right for you, not to sway you in any particular direction. Only you can make decisions about whether to continue or end your pregnancy.

Gender-Affirming Care
If you or someone you love is seeking a letter of support from a licensed clinician for medical transition, please contact our office. We can direct you to providers in the St. Louis Region for gender-affirming hormone therapy as well as mental health clinicians.

Contraceptive Counseling
Individualized contraceptive counseling services are offered alongside abortion visits and contraceptive visits as desired. This service allows you to review contraceptive options and work with an experienced contraceptive counselor to figure out what birth control options might be best for you, based on your health history and your preferences. Patient Support Services
Sometimes we all need a little extra support. If you want or need additional resources or services, we want to help. We will work with you to connect you with community resources to fit your needs. This service is available to current and former patients of Hope Clinic. For a list of resources, please visit our Helpful Resources webpage.
